Yes - believe it or not. Mapouka is a traditional dance of south-east of Ivory Coast in the field of Dabou despite his impressive choreography, it is sometimes carried out in religious ceremonies. Which was banned by his government in 1998, which naturally led to more popularity. Go figure?
